Royal Leamington Spa College - 2nd time at the college

So today was my second time at helping in the Fashion and Textile department at the college. If I'm really honest I prefer the college to the school. I think its because the students at the college are doing Fashion and Textiles and that's it, at the school they are doing A-level Textiles and some other subjects so their focus isn't 100% on Textiles.

 Things I find infuriating:

  • They are constantly on their phones
  • I know more now about Kim Kardashian than I ever wanted or needed to know
  • They have a massive energy lull in the afternoon
Things I like:
  • The students - I can have a laugh with them
  • I can offer my view and they listen and use my ideas
  • I'm learning from them (see Kardashian bullet point)
Anyway, today they started a new project. They have to video their last project creations (a 60's inspired costume with a sportswear theme). So, they have to create a story board, think about lighting, make-up, accessories, venue, etc etc.
It was great to get in on the start of a project. So I was firing off ideas left right and centre.

Half Term

So this week its half term for schools and I've taken the week off from teaching all my fitness classes so I can concentrate on my MA and really make a dent in printing and sewing my designs for the final fashion show. Deadline is 4th July - 5 weeks today! Below are some pictures of some of the prints done and trousers made. I'm in early today to try and fit my trousers, hopefully to me. Last week I started on my MA report which we have to write as part of the course, 2500 words on our MA experience related back to our personal statement. Right, time to go, just got to drink my coffee first!

Portfolio 2 Hand In

So tomorrow is hand in day for the second part of the MA. I'm in Uni sorting out my display and finishing off sketchbook work. I thought the MA room would be busy, but there's only me and World in. (World is a Fashion design student from Thailand). Below are some of the photos. I think I need to get a better camera because the photos make the prints look washed out. I hope I've done enough, I'm not far off Distinction marks.....
